Every plan includes every feature — tiers differ only in device count and support. Subscriptions include OTA updates, email ticket support and remote assistance.
Buying a license¶
Purchase at vconfig.ai/pricing. Payment (cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, WeChat Pay) is processed by our merchant of record, Paddle. Your license key is shown after checkout and emailed to you.
Activating¶
- In vConfig, open Settings → License.
- Paste your license key and click Activate.
- The instance contacts
https://vconfig.aionce, receives a signed entitlement, and your device limit is raised immediately.
One license activates one production instance. Re-activating on a new server (migration) is allowed; the previous activation is released automatically after it stops sending heartbeats.
Heartbeats and offline grace¶
Activated instances renew their entitlement in the background about once a day. The payload contains only: licence key, instance fingerprint (a one-way hash), the vConfig version, the operating system and kernel version, the server's own IP address, and the managed device count — never your configurations, credentials or device data.
The OS and IP fields exist purely for support: when you open a ticket we no longer have to ask what you are running.
Losing access to vconfig.ai does not hit you immediately: the certificate the instance already holds stays valid until its expiry date, plus a 15-day grace period. Only if the instance stays offline past both does it freeze new devices — everything already managed keeps running. The next successful heartbeat restores it automatically.
Expiry and cancellation¶
When a subscription ends, your installation keeps running exactly as before: every device you already manage stays managed, backups and monitoring keep going, and no data is touched. You get a 15-day grace period after the expiry date, and only then does the license freeze: you can no longer add devices until you renew. Updates and ticket support also stop. Renewing restores everything instantly.
Expiry never reduces you to the Community limit. A Professional installation with 87 devices keeps all 87 — it simply cannot grow to 88 until the subscription is active again.
FAQ¶
Can I move my license to another server? Yes — activate on the new instance; the old one releases automatically.
Do test/standby instances need licenses? No. Cold-standby and test instances are free; only production counts.
What if I exceed my device cap? vConfig blocks adding devices beyond the cap and shows an upgrade prompt. Existing devices are never deleted.
